In this time of uncertainty, self-care – more than ever – needs to be top of mind. Maintaining a healthy mindset helps us stay clear on what we can and can’t control, and can make a noticeable difference in how we approach each day.
A regular meditation practice is an effective tool to keep our minds focused on the here and now, and to keep perspective during challenging times.
Meditation can:
- Reduce stress and anxiety;
- Improve focus and concentration;
- Build resilience;
- Promote sleep;
- Build patience, and
- Improve our overall mental and physical wellbeing.
The beauty of meditation is that it can be practiced anywhere, anytime. It is a simple way to bring us back to a place of calm more quickly, and to create ease in our bodies and minds. Even a simple minute of breathing and connecting with our bodies can make a difference. Click on this simple one-minute meditation for a quick ticket to calm. As small business owners, we need to focus on what’s directly in front of us and where to spend our energy, but also strategize on how to deal with what lies ahead. A regular meditation practice can ease our overactive minds, and help us stay clear on the “now.”
By managing our thoughts we are able to expend energy only on what is necessary. If you’re looking for ways to create, restart or maintain your meditation habits there are many resources available.
Meditation won’t take away the challenges, worries and world events, but it can help us manage our minds, and how we react to these stressors.
The economic impact of COVID-19 is going to be significant. The reality is that big companies will be able to survive this, but many small businesses will not unless we do everything in our collective power to help them through this period.
