HOST E-PARTY

We can change the world with a series of small acts! Performers, event planners, artists, caterers and everyone in the events businesses have been hit particularly hard by coronavirus. By hosting e-parties we can create some fun for our friends and family while also creating small job opportunities for many of the people being affected most deeply right now. Everyone wins. And we have fun!

How To Host An E-Party

1) Choose a Date. The silver lining? I am pretty sure everyone will be available on any date you choose!

2) Do a brainstorm session with a friend who is event planner. Your friends and colleagues who are in the event industry are hurting right now. Ask a friend for help, make it fun and pay them $100 for their hour consultation.

3) Book at least one artist or performer. Think of your friends or your friend’s friends and find a singer, live painting artist, actor, musician or some other type of performer who could do a virtual performance for your e-party! Hire them and pay them $250 for their performance fee.

4) Set up a basic event page that allows you to collect money from ticket sales You can use a tool like Eventbrite so that you can sell tickets for a price that you set. Your goal is to generate $350 in ticket sales ($100 to give to the event planner and $250 to give to a performer). If you can get 10 friends to come that is $35 per ticket. If you can get 20 friends to come tickets are only $17.50.

5) Invite friends and family. Send emails, text, call, post on social and gather your people! Create some levity, some fun and a chance for people to read something other than dire news and to have something fun to look forward to!

6) Have all attendees order food from a small caterer or restaurant Remind everyone that in addition to their ticket fee the “cost of admission” is that they need to “cater” their event by buying their food for delivery from a local caterer or restaurant.

7) Host the event online. Use a tool like Zoom, Skype or Google Hangouts and send everyone the link so that all can attend at the scheduled start time.

8) HAVE FUN. As the Host and official Emcee don’t be afraid to really create an amazing experience! Maybe prepare some opening remarks, speak to the experience that you hope to create for everyone during you e-party, create space for everyone to introduce themsleves to each other and then introduce the performer. Enjoy the time. Create fun, laughter and connection. 9) Pay small businesses The purpose of this whole thing is primarily to #buyfromsmallbusiness so make sure the event planner gets $100, the performer gets $250 and all food bought was from small businesses!
